June Tuesdays Post went very well despite the driving rain, lead problems, (again!) and London being empty due to Jubilee. We had a nice audience, thanks to all who made a supreme effort to battle the unseasonably awful weather. Lovely to meet Suzy for the first time (hopefully not the last) and Jo who I haven’t seen for many years. We started with an unexpected live set from Greg Hunter (i thought he would bring his tunes to dj), wonderful mash-up dub version of a Sidney Bechet tune and more, class! On to the lovely Jo Thomas who presented a set of beautifully constructed and unique sounds, quite something to get lost in, the rhythmic treatment of these timbres were quite the highlight for me, unusual, rarefied and subtle.. I made a short improv on the national anthem (!) and then on to Suzy Condrad who’s positional and mental on-the-spot abilities are quite incredible, and the songs were engaging, thought provoking and fun as well as complicated and technically challenging… something to be valued highly. I ended with an old favourite followed by an improvisation dedicated to my favourite planet Venus, who was in transit with the Sun at that moment! Videos and pictures to follow….
